Here is some exciting news! I am featured in the 2012 DecoArt Catalog, on page 10 and 11, with my painting Dish & Spoon that I created using DecoArt’s Traditions Acrylic Paints. They are wonderful paints, and also include a line of acrylic mediums. I have been working with them since 2010, and LOVE the Social Artworking Canvas Art paints as well. The color range is perfect and both paints dry quickly on canvas, but stay ‘open’ on your palette longer.

Here is a pdf of the Catalog. They are also the company that makes Patio Paint, Chalkboard paint and a whole lot of other great stuff!

Here is a little painting I just relayered in gel medium to give it a glossy appearance, and a semi-encaustic look. It is 8"x8" and acrylic on canvas. I tend to lean towards fluid acrylics alot lately and have been using DecoArt Traditions Fluid Acrylics.Really nice paint, great color, mixing is always good, no surprise 'colors' showing up so far. :-)

Have a great day, and create something today, even if you only have 5 minutes!

Happy New Year! I have been so busy, which is a good thing, but completely slacking on the blogging! This little painting is 10" x 30" and so yummy you just want to eat it! Those are the best kind of treats, calorie free and lovely.

I am painting with mostly gouache paint lately and fluid acrylics (which is what the above painting was done with) you probably can't see the relief, but there is a lovely texture of frosting and sugary icing on each 'treat' that I achieved with gel medium. I literally, no joke, have gone through an entire half gallon of the stuff…I love the layering/waxy effect that it adds to my paintings! Not to mention it is EXACTLY like frosting a real cake!!!

So, hang on to your hats everyone, I will predict it now….2011 is going to be an amazing year!!!!!!!!!

So here it is, I just finished this painting. A print of it is on Etsy. The original is 4 feet by 2 feet and has a very jewel like finish, thanks to my discovery of semi-gloss gel. Love that stuff!!!

This was a JOY to paint and it makes me feel very inspired. LOVE LOVE the colors. Sorry if I'm gushing, after you finish something that has taken up days of time, you just want to shout from the rooftops that it is FINISHED!!!!!!!

Here is a new painting I'm working on. It is small, 6"x12" artist panel. I really like the surface, but it takes a bit to get used to the fact that the paint does not absorb into the surface like on on canvas. I'm trying to keep more of my brushstrokes visable and do more layering, to build up some visual 'diversity'. I have noticed that a lot of my drawings and paintings are very flat and one dimensional, and am trying for a little more 'depth'. Plus, I really like all the color in this one!

Hope your Wednesday is spectacular!

I am discovering so much about myself lately…namely, that first instincts at least for me in my artwork are usually right. This is one in a series I'm finishing for my artshow in Virginia MN. I'm hoping to have about 10 finished. So when those are done, I'll post them in a seperate album. This one is 8"x8" acrylic on canvas, with india ink on top. :-)

Here's my first Everyday Matters drawing! #1 of 240! WOW. It is an online group, that I found via another member in my art journaling group (Thanks Melissa!). A little intimidating, but I think the write kind of inspiration to KEEP ME CREATING everyday!
